Talk
Katerina’s talk will trace her journey from the fast-paced world of London’s fashion industry to a quieter, more reflective life in the Worcestershire countryside. Taking time to pause and slow down, she discovered a deep and grounding connection with nature – one that taught her the value of presence, repetition of hand processes, and working considerately with materials to craft something beautiful. This connection inspired her to approach textiles in a new way; working in harmony with the earth.
Bringing together horticulture and textiles, the talk will delicately intertwine sowing seeds and sewing stitches.
Workshop
Stitching with Nature, a hand embroidery workshop hosted by Katerina Knight.
In this workshop, Katerina will teach participants a series of hand embroidery techniques for how dried plant materials can be used as alternative textile embellishments. Learning how to incorporate unusual materials such as lavender seeds, cornflowers, dahlia petals, and rosemary together with traditional hand stitching, whether you are interested in textiles, gardening, meditation, or would just like to learn something new, this workshop promises to be soothing and sensorial.
All materials will be provided by Katerina, including a varied selection of dried plant materials, homegrown or sustainably foraged from her local surroundings in the Malvern hills. No experience is necessary, you are encouraged to take each stitch slowly and learn at a pace that is comfortable for you.
